But luckily I ran into Practicum Practicum is an online platform that provides hands-on learning experiences in data science and analytics. Instead of drowning in theory, Practicum gets you straight into practicing with exercises every step of the way. This interactive approach to learning keeps you engaged and motivated, making the learning experience much more enjoyable than traditional lecture-based classes. This applies especially if you are a hands on, get straight into it kind of person. One of the things I like most about Practicum is the support provided. You have at least 2 timeslots per day where someone can always answer your questions on the slack channels. Additionally, every couple of weeks, you get zoom webinars hosted by tutors that go over the concepts learned in the sprints. This provides an opportunity to re-learn or brush up on knowledge that you may not be 100% confident in. The community is also very lively with events, study sessions, and other activities constantly popping up, which creates a supportive environment where you can collaborate and learn from your peers. Another great thing about Practicum is the balanced workload. The course is designed to be completed in 9 months, but if you fall behind, you can always contact your community manager to get extensions. This allows you to balance your learning with other responsibilities, such as work or family. Overall, Practicum has been a great choice for my data science journey. I am already gaining useful knowledge and have completed a couple of my own data science projects. The interactive platform, projects, learning team, Slack community, and workshops have all been instrumental in helping me reach my goal of becoming a data analyst or data scientist. The course has a wide curriculum for you to have in your personal portfolio but also varies the projects every certain amount of time. I joined Practicum Software Engineer bootcamp with the sole purpose of learning end to end web development. I tried many programs (from youtube videos to other freely available bootcamps) to get minimum knowledge in web development. In all these programs,... Read More I felt that a methodical approach is missing. I know that I can easily create a website following some youtube tutorials. But such websites are not professionally implemented, and are very difficult to maintain. For instance while styling websites, we should follow a methodology like BEM to create well maintainable websites. Practicum has the state of the art methodologies to implement real websites for businesses. I tried Practicum's free code camp (the first module), and was impressed that they have an excellent program that could help me to create professional websites. After my free trial, I immediately switched to the paid program, and I am quite satisfied with my decision. If you are serious about developing professional websites, please do not waste your time in following youtube tutorials or some freely available bootcamps. Unless you do hands-on work and get the feedback on your work, you are not on the right path to success. Practicum's curriculum has the right balance of theory and practice. In each sprint you will be given some study material with exercises, and you will also work on a project, which will be professionally evaluated. The project work in each sprint will reinforce your learnings. Consider Practicum if you have these goals and traits: 1. You want to develop professional websites 2. The program does not have video lessons (or have very limited videos). You should be comfortable in studying the text material rendered via practicum website. 3. You are not discouraged by the feedback you get highlighting the mistakes in your logic/code in each sprint. 4. You seriously looking to start a career as a Software Engineer 5. You are ready to spend at least 10 hours a week on the program

Practicum has been a life changing experiment for me. The entirety of the program has taught me so much and I am not even half way done with the course. The material is amazing and all the tutors and community managers are super nice and are always there... Read More to help. There is so much knowledge and information to attain from this program. Not only the boot camp itself but from the tutors themselves. They are all very learned and want to give you the help and information you need. With regards to the program itself, it is split up into 15 Sprints/ 15 projects and the way the program it set up to teach you the different languages starting with HTML and CSS styles and then introducing JavaScript and so on is perfectly set up. Each Sprint introduces the next one like a perfect paper would introduce each paragraph. It is beautiful the way it is set up and the best way to become a software engineer. I can not stress how much I have learned in just two months and how much you can learn if you put your faith into the program! I would tell anyone to take this course if they are serious about learning and want to be a successful software engineer! Joining practicum was the best decision I could have made! I hope you take the course and love it as much as I do!

Let me start by saying WOW! This is a really good course. It exceeded all my expectations, although I am still studying and I still have 4 months of study. I had study experience: I graduated from college with a degree in programming (but this was not... Read More enough for the modern market, plus the college program was very weak), then I took 3-4 courses at udemy (it was a good experience, quite interesting pet projects, but still not enough to start working). My last step was to go to the practicum. I thought I already knew a lot, after all my experience, college, courses .... I knew no more than 40% of what they gave me on the course. This is an amazing course, constant technical support, support from mentors, sooooo much practice. Interesting projects that you are not ashamed to show to the employer later. I have never regretted taking this course.

I joined practicum because I did not agree on how college does things. I believe college is obsolete, outdated, and inefficient. I started going to college in 2016 and graduated in 2020 with a associates degree in computer science. At this time, this... Read More is when COVID 19 hit and colleges had to switch online instead of in-person class. What I didn't like about this transition is how colleges were charging full price for tuition without giving us the full experience of college. I felt like this was a scam and decided to drop out and alternatives to college. Thats when I decided to join a coding bootcamp. There are many coding bootcamps that that I had to research and compare on which bootcamp was the best for me, so I decided to practicum. What I noticed about practicum is that this bootcamp was a lot cheaper than the other bootcamps and offers a refund if unable to get a job within 6 months. I started practicum on September 15 and spend more than at least 20 hours completing the sprints. Doing the sprints are like doing coding exercises on code academy. The tutors were very helpful and respond pretty fast if you have questions or issues with your code. They have reviewers who review your projects and tell you issues with your code and how to improve on it. I am not completely done with the program yet, but so far, I'm having a great experience with this program. No boring lectures, no exams, no grading, no GPA's, no attendances, no student loans, no general ed courses, no more taking irrelevant classes, no more worrying about passing or failing, this program is perfect. So far only advice and tips I have is to just progress through it and see if it works for you.

I will have to say that I thoroughly enjoy this platform. Practicum offers something unique that I realized other boot-camps do not offer and that is the time invested in their platform that brings in depth content, theory, and challenges along the way.... Read More Each sprint consist of a list of project requirements that build on top each other over the course of 10 months. What stood out to me the most was the structure of the program. Each sprint should take at least 2-3 weeks which covers theory, practical coding challenges, and implementing project requirements at the end of each sprint. The integrated tool for the theory and challenges are pretty solid when it comes to implementing and building on top of the concepts as you work through the course material. Time management is important if you plan to invest in yourself when it comes to self-learning. It's not your typical traditional style of learning. You have to be hungry for learning and investing in yourself. I would have to say the support is key with Practicum from tutors, community managers, to current and past alum. The tutors at Practicum are seasoned engineers that provide adequate support as well as feedback when it comes to the course material and project submissions. Tutors are available during CW which is known as (co-working sessions) that help you address any issue in your code. Think of community managers as those who support you every step of the way, if you have issues with material, content, or need a break from the program they are there to help you figure out the best possible solution. I'm 3 months in the program, I will update and provide more feedback when it comes to career services, data structures/algorithms and progressing further into the program.

Read More source and do that with coding. I chose Practicum due reviews just like this one based on feedback of other students and due to the length of the course. Many courses are shorter in by months, I figured I needed the best training and guidance in a complex and growing industry. There is no rush, and it is a learning process. Boot Camps are still faster than college and 10 months is shorter then 4years, so this also was a bonus and the online and seeing the course laid out is a bonus. I am very fortunate for myself to be an office manager at an accounting firm and very flexible hours due to tax season being busier during January through April so able to go very hard on my studies currently and still perform my duties for my current job. I love the go at your own pace and time because everyone’s schedules are different. Everyone comes from different stages in life. I have two kids a 6-year-old and a 3-year-old and married so my life is very busy at home. My family supports my passion in this as well and sees their dad and husband trying his best to pursue his passion even later in life, it’s never too late! Practicum is setup 100% online based which helps me succeed and be more efficient. They use Slack, which is an online chat platform, but more than just a chat, it is a messaging app that keeps students and businesses directly connected, for projects in their environments. You can share work, do video meet ups, audio and much, more. The homework or every day work is based on course work. You dive into the chapters with either reading the text and then do course work and examples based on the course work you just went over. Sometimes there is video examples which are very beneficial that explain the chapter and what the next desired course of action. Everyone learns completely different, and the staff of managers, tutors and enrollment take this into factor. Currently I am 40% the way through the course and been enjoying the learning and every minute. Even when I hit the brick wall on coding and stumped. I have gained new tools from the staff that give me better understanding how to deal with what to do when you encounter a problem. I have been in the workforce for 19 years myself. I have been a manager for over 12 years and the information of knowing when to ask for help and its ok to has been huge for me as well. These are not just school lessons; these are life lessons that we carry into the real word and applicable in our day to day lives. The daily zoom and tutoring are done with office hours and course work, based on the availability of the tutors. They set up their schedule prior for all to see it is posted so the students can see the hours to gain help online and get extra additional aid on either projects or course work. I need to see and work 1 on 1 with the tutors it is very important for me. Some are audio learners, some are visual. I am visual, and need that show me with examples, pictures, PowerPoint, and anything else you have that is useful to learning. I have been very impressed with the tutors’ abilities and the students. I feel honored just to be around such a great and knowledgeable crowd, and hoping the knowledge keeps rubbing off onto me. They also have a career program. This program starts earlier than expected which is a key to success. They prepare you for the aftermath of preparing the job search and how to start the networking process after you complete the course and graduate. I would be clueless what to do even with knowledge in hand, so this helps on what directions to start in, and a head start with some guidance in the right direction and early. You start working during your time in the course, so you are not on completion of graduating rushing and scrambling to throw something together. At first, I even found myself overwhelmed with this, why are they talking about career right now I am still working on the course, I now understand why and seeing how fast life is moving and how many job applications the aftermath takes for the process, it is a good thing they focus in on the resume and cleaning up all the networking. Thus far my experience has been everything it has been chalked up to be. They have delivered as in Practicum on all fronts. Sometimes companies or industries say one thing do another, thus far been very good on everything they claim. They are very much on the student’s side and value the opinions so if you have feedback as well your comment does not go onto deaf ears, your comment can be applied. I have seen my comments firsthand actually applied. This means they care about their students and the voice and value your voice and will do their best to help you along the process make this a smooth journey. Practicum has a wonderful structured curriculum consisting of sprints, that push you to do your best over a certain amount of allotted ed time.It blew my mind how I went from just knowing a little, to writing full fledge, Professional Websites that showcase the skills I have learned. The interactivity of the software Engineering Program has built in on-site features, creating an immersive workspace environment, without the need to go back and forth to other applications.
