As a fairly recent college grad, I was working in Marketing for the past couple years before realizing I was attracted to the UI/UX industry. I'd heard great reviews about the industry from others and wanted to get my feet wet before fully committing... Read More myself. After some research, I found that Designlab offered a Foundational intro course at a price I could afford. It took me about 8 weeks to finish the course, and I've come out of it with hands on experience working in Figma, knowledge on foundational design principles, and feedback from program-provided mentors.

I'd recommend this intro course for anyone debating a deeper dive into UI/UX.

I thought it was well-paced and loved all the feedback my mentor gave me. Changing my mentor definitely made a huge difference in the quality of my design and was really happy with how it turned out. However, one aspect I believe could be improved is the inclusion of more student/group activities. While the autonomy of the coursework is valuable, I believe additional group sessions akin to classroom settings could enhance the learning experience further.

I recommend the UX Academy from DesignLab if someone wants to become a UX designer without a previous design background. I will explain some of the things that I really liked.

Hands-on Projects: There were great hands-on projects throughout the UXA. I was able to get practical experiences and constructive feedback from mentors.
Community and Networking: I liked the UX community in Discord, and this allowed me to foster valuable connections with peers and industry professionals.
Mentor: The mentors are professional UX experts, and the mentors have diverse industry experiences. I was able to get great comments, feedback, and advice throughout the boot camp from 1 on 1 sessions and group critique sessions.
Curriculum: The curriculum was pretty solid. It covered a lot of UX design principles with detailed explanations in each chapter.
