My time learning with Code Institute was overall a good experience, though I admittedly did not make as much use of the available resources as I perhaps should have. Tutors are available almost all of the time, and the help and encouragement of my mentor Chris was invaluable! The content of the course also felt high-quality, and I was kept engaged with what I was learning about. Naturally as I progressed through the course the concepts started to become harder to grasp and had more complexity, but this is where the support resources were a big help! I worked on and created projects that I previously would have had no idea how to approach, and have completed my diploma with what I feel is solid foundational knowledge which I aim to build upon through further learning!

The course is supported by Student Care for wellbeing issues and general care, alongside tutor support for difficulties and issues that cannot be resolved by the student. Tutor support provide 90 minutes per week, which encourages the student to find their own resolution through research and reaching out to the community. There is also careers support to guide students in putting their CV together and how to present themselves for job interviews. They also provide webinars, inviting alumni who have found coding jobs to come back and speak about their experiences, as well as partnership companies to provide tips, etc on CVs and job interviews. I would say that this course is one of the best online courses and it is definitely a boot-camp. However, you need to be prepared to put the hard work in as there are tight and strict deadlines, and it is pretty full-on. It isn't for the fainthearted! When you get through the course and submit your projects, it's the best feeling of achievement!

Read More your own problem solving skills, support from the community and tenacity, it can be an added learning bonus and very rewarding to overcome these challenges. I came to this course with a solid background in computer modelling, though I had very minimal exposure to the specific technologies taught on the course. I completed it in 7 months and found the time frame very manageable - but as I said, I do have a solid background in education and programming, so completing this kind of work with good management of resources and time comes naturally to me. This may very well not be everyone's experience! Excellent problem solving skill, self discipline, and time management skills will help to make this course less stressful if done in a short time. Overall I can highly recommend it!

The course is well planned, it starts slow with html and CSS but the difficulty increases quickly with time, jumping to javascript, python and other technologies.... Read More The valuation system is really good, the projects really make you push the boundary and go to the next level. The customer service is really good, even though the course is remote, the tutors really help with questions and issues. Overall I recommend this course, it's really good and helps students getting their first job. Just be aware that the course is not easy so you need to commit to it and invest your time.

Apart from coding, the course also provided insights into the today’s industry standards, without overwhelming with unnecessary info. The course is not easy, with lot of content to absorb, but it is well-structured and I really liked how we, as students, were supposed throughout the learning process. We had weekly group calls, which allowed us to discuss and share problems or successes, the mentor sessions were very valuable, student and alumni community on Slack is great. Our portfolio projects had clear requirements and results came with valuable detailed comments from assessors. The other valuable recourse I appreciated is career hub. The career team is very active. They constantly conduct webinars and there is a separate course module that not only teaches how to write CVs but also how the industry looks from the inside, so that you know what to expect when you land your first job. I would highly recommend this course to anyone considering a career change into the software industry.
