Pros: - Self-pace: You have complete freedom to control the time frame. For my academic year, there is no penalty if you delay to submit your assignment or delay to take the exam. - Good support: You will be invited to a Slack channel that is dedicated... Read More for the students and staff in UX Design Institute after you paid for the course. You can ask any type of questions, e.g. assignment, career, feedback for portfolio. - Responsive and knowledgeable staff: The members of staff in the Institute are quite responsive. Unless it is public holiday / sick leave, they reply your questions pretty quick within 1-2 hours if they are not extremely complicated. - High transparency: I know who to go to for when I have particular area of questions, e.g. career, exam, events. - Great events: The institute invites experts to talk about the UX industry and the events are quite interactive which allow participants to ask questions. Cons: - Outdated course materials: Most of the materials are related to the topic of UX but the software demonstration on the module about prototype is out of date. I took the course in 2021 and the demo was shown on a software in 2018 version. I struggled a lot as a beginner as the software's feature, interface and functions have changed A LOT. I ended up self-taught everything from Youtube and with endless experiments. Technologies have advanced so quickly that the Institute should keep up the trend. - No 1:1 mentor: It is good to have the Slack Channel to discuss issues but no one are dedicated to answer your questions. If you want to have a person to guide and teach you through the projects, I recommend you to hire a mentor outside the Institute. - Little guidance: The assignment were scored simply with pass/fail. I wish there would be someone talked to me about what I needed to improve. - Too little project: I wish the course could be more intensive, like having 2-3 projects which last for a year to build up my portfolio. The course only requires students to complete 1 project, which I don't think this will increase too much employability in the job market. It really rely on students' motivation. (Actually, it is two sides of the same coin - You could say the course was easy to finish because the course is not intense.)

The course is great to introduce you to UX in a friendly and structured way. Videos are greatly explained and they provide additional resources to keep learning outside videos. They have a slack channel where you can post questions, get feedback, access... Read More to resources etc. The more people shares, the better! However, I believe personal feedback throughout the course could be improved in their emails... They send you an email saying "You passed" after each project, but it doesn't actually say any score.. so you really don't know where you could improve or if it was excellent or just okay. Apart from that, it was a great experience and I recommend it to anyone who is looking for a course that covers the basics and a little bit more!

The online learning structure was well presented and was in perfect balance with all the practical projects; each video module gave you all the necessary content to learn UX, even as a novice. I've felt like I've gained an immense amount of career changing knowledge! The tutors marked projects fairly and gave useful feedback, their honest critique was very beneficial and often gave insight to improve the current project or help when approaching the next. In all, the UX Design Institute team were extremely helpful, accommodating and friendly while been very professional. They were always quick to answer your questions, help with any course issues and would go out of their way to get you through the course and projects - they really went that extra mile!

Read More some suggestion I wanted a UX course which was certificated and has less duration as my Sweden course was almost 1-1/2 years. After checking with two institute me and my partner we decided to go with UXDI as their consultation team was flexible and couldn't understand my requirement . Read More are recommended to follow a six month phase to complete the course but if you are motivated you can go a lot faster than that. I completed the course within two months but I was also doing this for almost full time. The course consists of different projects and online videos. The online videos are very good with great explanation of the theory. You are also being recommended to read about 10 books but you don't have to read them to complete the course. The books are good to get a better understanding. I only read one of the books (no time to read the others). You get great support from other students and from their student success team. They are very helpful and friendly. This course is great if you need some kind of documentation for your skills.

I was looking for a framework that offers a certain level of curriculum guidance and reassurance that I am learning the right things, as well as a tutored course so that I get feedback on my work. And something that is not as expensive as the likes of... Read More General Assembly, accepting that I do not have a personal tutor/mentor. The curriculum is okay, I did need to spend more time than the estimated 5 hours/week to study and deliver my projects. Good in terms of content, just relevant to keep in mind to balance with the time you have. I was expecting more specific and useful feedback to the projects I submitted. The majority of projects were scored simply with pass/fail, no other feedback - which is not very helpful in terms of learning. The interaction with the mentor and school tutors felt quite impersonal to me, being only in writing via chat. The webinars didn't feel like adding that much value, since they had very similar to content to previously recorded ones which I'd watched. Overall, it's an acceptable experience - enough to get you started and curious about the field of UX and to give you direction on how to educate yourself further. As I don't think this course is enough for someone to straight away start into a UX Designer job or to build a good enough portfolio.
