I used Switchup exactly a year ago to find a suitable bootcamp so now it's time for me to help others make their choice.

Picking Flatiron Full Stack Web Development course was an easy one. I was working full-time and planned to study online, I liked... Read More their bootcamp Prep Course, they offered job search support and the payment schedule was flexible - you pay $1500 a month up to $12k, after that it's free. So if you're able to finish the course in 4 months, your tab is only $6k. Plus they offer $1500 merit scholarships to 25 motivated students each month.

The structure of the course is pretty straightforward. You learn a new topic and in the next lesson you pass the test which usually consists of writing a function or fixing a broken code. At the end of each module you build a projects which will be part of your portfolio when you go searching for a job. There are tons of videos and webinars, 24 hr online support plus you can always schedule a session with an instructor. Luckily for me I could find answers to most of my questions on StackOverflow so I didn't really use their support system. At some point I was even thinking that I chose the wrong program - you can get the same course for $150 a month but without instructor's support (there is still a community-based help). That, however, would have been a mistake as I realized later.

I think the main feature is their post-graduation support. I was assigned a career coach to touch base weekly. She helped me build a resume, a cover letter, gave me tons of advice on how to speak to recruiters and employers and provided moral support all the way though my job search. In addition to that Flatiron has a resourceful Business Development team who provide you with leads you won't find online. I wouldn't be able to find my job without those guys. I received tons of rejections, even though I made it to the last round of interviews at some companies. After almost 4 months I got an offer which was way above my best expectations. So I don't regret for a second it took that course, it's a life changer!

I was in legal IT and legal management for over 10 yrs before I figured out I wasn't happy, call that stubbornness if you want but I wasn't happy. I began taking a lot of courses on sites like Codacademy, Pragmatic Studio, Treehouse, etc. Those are great... Read More sites but they don't encompass everything you need to succeed. I set out looking for something more, something to get me over this educational hump and came across 3 bootcamps/online learning schools. Not to get into what all 3 institutions were I researched all 3 HARD. I just had a peace about Flatiron. Flatiron online courses were hard but not without an ability to get help, it takes time but only the amount you are willing to put in, its not cheap but isn't your future worth it? They want you to succeed and give you the skills to do so in the real world. Don't take your future lightly... research and make the best choice for YOU, Flatiron is a good place to start looking though.

This was an exceptional program that brought as much passion to the career support as it did to the curriculum prep. I didn't have a STEM background and graduated with an English degree, so I had a ton of doubts that I wouldn't be cut out for programming.... Read More However, with the school's help and career support I landed a dream job in Chicago. They made a lot of promises and as a skeptical person I didn't want to believe it, but my experience fully lived up to my expectations and I can't speak enough to the commitment and integrity of the people involved in the school.

Flatiron's Bootcamp Prep was great! I only got about halfway thru since I eventually got accepted into their immersive program and have been working on prepwork since.

I've done other bootcamp prep, and honestly, Flatiron's was the best. I'm not just saying... Read More that. They had great support when I was stuck, the directions were clear, the user interface was user friendly and easy to work with, and they did a great job of prepping me for what was to come. I mean, I got into the program and worked hard, so they must be doing something right. I've had a few Ruby friends complain about the drudgery of learning JS, but I actually enjoyed it via Flatiron's Bootcamp Prep.

I used my notes to build a basic website for my wife on her birthday. Minimal knowledge and embedded html and css in the same file, but nonetheless, I had several friends and family members impressed with the site...all from the info I learned in the bootcamp prep.

All my experience with Access Labs has been great so far and I'm super excited to be starting the Software Engineering Immersive in a few weeks! Highly recommend!!!!

I completed Flatiron's online bootcamp prep course to see if coding was for me - and I loved it!

The course gives a fantastic introduction to Ruby and Javascript, with just the right mix of hand-holding as concepts are introduced, followed by challenges... Read More which require you to put what you've just learn to the test. I learnt a lot in a short space of time, and found it very rewarding. The online environment in which you code is easy to use, but advanced enough to allow you to think about the file structure of coding projects as well as the sort of command line interface you might use in the real world to manage your project.

As a result of the course I'm going on to study in-person in London for the software immersive course, and throughout the admissions process everyone I've spoken to has been friendly, quick to help, and passionate about what they do - I'm now very excited to start the next course!

I completed the bootcamp prep course with some background on JavaScript, and I still learned a lot. The course has you complete several labs which are a bit like coding challenges, so they keep you constantly practicing new skills. I really enjoyed this... Read More learning format because it allowed me to really see whether I understood a topic by applying it, instead of having me just read about the topic so that I falsely believe that I understand it when I haven't used it. In summary, the practice-heavy structure of the bootcamp prep course helped me see and correct some of the holes in my own knowledge, thereby deepening my understanding of the material. There are also instructors available to chat with, which prevented me from getting stuck on an error for too long.

This program not only gave me the knowledge and confidence to chase my goals of becoming a developer, it gave me a network of individuals - from my cohort to instructors to other alumni - to help me along the way. It seems crazy to learn as much as you... Read More do in 15 weeks, but you really do. Now, it's no lie that you have to put the work in which they tell you from day one, but if you are willing to immerse yourself for just 15 weeks, then you are sure to come out on the other side confident in your skills as a developer.

I have started the Full Stack Developer online course in Flat Iron School and I am disappointed about several aspects of the course. The program is good and same the labs the problem is that you basically paid for doing the labs and have to do your own... Read More research by your own. Most of the texts are confusing and make you commit a lot of errors and wasting a lot of time.
When you are doing the online course you only have a portal to "Ask question" and it is hard to have someone that can understand where are you stuck and help you, in general it takes some time to have an answer and to be able to chat with a technical coach. I reported them a lot of issues in the tool related to the labs (they have their own IDE to work), some of the videos they show are very bad quality, the explanation of the content is a messy thing very difficult to follow.
Most of the labs I was able to pass thanks to a friend how is System Engineering and helped me to understand the foundation of Ruby for example, also he checked the course and didn't give me any good feed back.
I will finish it because I already pay for it and I would love to see if it really helps me to find a job related and change my review and be able to recommend the place.
I have done another courses in UDEMY, Lynda, etc and it is a shame because Flat Iron program is good, but with a lack of psychopedagogy to make the student learning better.

This prep course is really good, i have really basic knowledge in php, c++, and I haven’t program in years. This is the first time i get in touch with ruby and JavaScript and this course has been great, easy to understand, very detailed and the instructors... Read More work really hard to help you whenever you have a questions, with a good actitud Really complete. Totally recommended!
