i found the prep very engaging and fun, however some parts need a little work, like the IDE sometimes does not work perfectly. some of the online coaches are hit or miss. overall though, the prep is the reason i applied and am going to go to the flatiron school

Currently I am taking a prep course with Flatiron School and absolutely enjoy the curriculum. The community is really supportive, not only instructors but also other students and even alumni are out there to help you on every your step if you get stuck. Literally every time if something is not clear you just post your question and it takes a couple of seconds for someone to get you unstuck. You dont feel alone on this journey and that's really important.

My first and only experience with coding was through a past mentorship with my company, which helped me 'get my feet wet' and left me wanting to pursue web development. I found Flatiron's online program, which was perfect for my schedule and received the Women Take Tech scholarship to join the program. I always felt pushed during the program, yet supported- but not in a 'hand holding' way. You'll definietly get pushed into the deep end a lot, which mimics real world development!

For someone with zero prior coding experience like myself, the free online Data Science Bootcamp was a game changer. The content was challenging enough to get me to really push myself and work hard and learn a LOT by the end, but it wasn't as intimidating as to discourage me and make me give up at any point. I like how each new lab built on the previous one and things got more complicated very gradually and logically, so I never felt lost or frustrated during the process. The data and examples that were provided for each new exercise/concept were pretty intuitive and it wasn't until the very last few labs that things got very challenging and I found myself having to re-read and re-do each step multiple times before it really stuck. For context, I have just recently been accepted to the Flatiron Data Science class and have no background in coding at all. I have completed the data science bootcamp prep and about 2/3 of the other bootcamp prep class. As coding is new to me I had tried several online intro classes (datacamp, codeacademy, udemy) and the Learn.co online class Flatiron has was by far the best. The courses really explained not just what was going on in the classes but why it is occurring which is very helpful for me. Additionally, the very accessible Community tab was by the most amazing feature which allows you to ask questions about the specific course you are working on and actual tutors and other students respond within seconds (sometimes minutes, longest wait time was never longer than 5 minutes). ...

Empathy is at the center of the Flatiron culture, and it created a phenomenal culture of support and team-centered positivity. I love the people I worked with so much. The admissions process at Flatiron was seamless - I really enjoyed talking with both of my interviewers (the first is a simple meet and greet, the second is a technical interview). I am brand-new to coding but after following the technical track for JavaScript, I felt that I was well prepared for the technical interview. The learn.co courses are of two types - purely informational and coding labs. I feel that the information excels at explaining the basics - if you are brand-new, like me, you do not need to worry about jumping into something that might be over your head. I had a great experience at Flatiron all around. They did a great job with the curriculum and pacing, and the instructors were great. They really put a lot of thought into building a very inclusive, collaborative, and positive community and educational experience. The career services were top notch as well, and they helped me navigate my career transition and land a job that I'm loving. Highly recommended!

I had spent a few years studying on my own, and wanted my studies be more focused, and also have people who could guide me when I got stuck.
The online program was exactly what I needed since I was working full-time.
After completing the program within about a year and a half, I'm very confident in my ability to quickly learn new technologies.
The instructors were always excellent, and looking back I'm surprised by how much I learned.
It's hard for me to believe that I'm a developer now, and I'm very grateful to the instructors, as well as the career coach which were super helpful.
They really know what they're doing!

Coursework is very thorough and the videos are great too. Wish there was a few more quizzes during certain sections to break up the reading and test what you've learned but the quizzes on there are great and the built in IDE for Learn is very useful. It took a second to get used to but very easy to use once you understand it. Overall, the best prep course I've done so far after trying out and paying for multiple ones from other bootcamp courses.

I have spent time on various online free web development courses, and this is by far the best one I have encountered.  I like the structure of going back and forth between reading about a topic, and then implementing your new knowledge.  It also builds very well, adding skills as you go along, allowing you to complete a whole project piece by piece, rather than just teaching a bunch of disconnected skills.  Additionally, instructors from FlatIron School are incredibly helpful if you get stuck, and super responsive.  I never waited for more than 2 minutes to get feedback or assistance, whether it was just a text chat or a screenshare to help me work through my problem.  I highly recommend this bootcamp prep course to everyone.  Even if you have no intention of going to a bootcamp, you wi...

The enrollment process was pretty simple and straight forward. The prep work was great to prepare for the technical interview. The instructors doing the interview were kind and also helpful. All of my questions whether it was about the school or it was about the prep work were answered within minutes, great support from the staff at the school.

Picking Flatiron Full Stack Web Development course was an easy one. I was working full-time and planned to study online, I liked their bootcamp Prep Course, they offered job search support and the payment schedule was flexible - you pay $1500 a month up to $12k, after that it's free. So if you're able to finish the course in 4 months, your tab is only $6k. Plus they offer $1500 merit scholarships to 25 motivated students each month.

I was in legal IT and legal management for over 10 yrs before I figured out I wasn't happy, call that stubbornness if you want but I wasn't happy. I began taking a lot of courses on sites like Codacademy, Pragmatic Studio, Treehouse, etc. Those are great sites but they don't encompass everything you need to succeed. I set out looking for something more, something to get me over this educational hump and came across 3 bootcamps/online learning schools. Not to get into what all 3 institutions were I researched all 3 HARD. I just had a peace about Flatiron. This was an exceptional program that brought as much passion to the career support as it did to the curriculum prep. I didn't have a STEM background and graduated with an English degree, so I had a ton of doubts that I wouldn't be cut out for programming. However, with the school's help and career support I landed a dream job in Chicago. They made a lot of promises and as a skeptical person I didn't want to believe it, but my experience fully lived up to my expectations and I can't speak enough to the commitment and integrity of the people involved in the school.

Flatiron's Bootcamp Prep was great! I only got about halfway thru since I eventually got accepted into their immersive program and have been working on prepwork since.

I've done other bootcamp prep, and honestly, Flatiron's was the best. I'm not just saying that. They had great support when I was stuck, the directions were clear, the user interface was user friendly and easy to work with, and they did a great job of prepping me for what was to come. I mean, I got into the program and worked hard, so they must be doing something right. I've had a few Ruby friends complain about the drudgery of learning JS, but I actually enjoyed it via Flatiron's Bootcamp Prep.

The course gives a fantastic introduction to Ruby and Javascript, with just the right mix of hand-holding as concepts are introduced, followed by challenges which require you to put what you've just learn to the test. I learnt a lot in a short space of time, and found it very rewarding. The online environment in which you code is easy to use, but advanced enough to allow you to think about the file structure of coding projects as well as the sort of command line interface you might use in the real world to manage your project.

I completed the bootcamp prep course with some background on JavaScript, and I still learned a lot. The course has you complete several labs which are a bit like coding challenges, so they keep you constantly practicing new skills. I really enjoyed this learning format because it allowed me to really see whether I understood a topic by applying it, instead of having me just read about the topic so that I falsely believe that I understand it when I haven't used it. In summary, the practice-heavy structure of the bootcamp prep course helped me see and correct some of the holes in my own knowledge, thereby deepening my understanding of the material. There are also instructors available to chat with, which prevented me from getting stuck on an error for too long.
